Throughout history, we find some music styles that can be associated to places that for some reason, like certain cities, confer a symbolic and identity charge to a characteristic sound. Currently, Barcelona is a focus of attraction for many musicians since it has a broad background in international-level production of popular urban music. The objective of this work is to determine whether the popular music of the city of Barcelona has its own sound that can be identified from the music produced in this city. For this purpose, several musical producers working in Barcelona have been interviewed who have analyzed the cultural and musical situation of the city and have pointed out the difficulties and contradictions between the recording industry and cultural policy that both help and hinder the current production of a sound Made in Barcelona.
