This work consisted in assessing the knowledge and practices of young people on the topic healthy eating. The sample consisted of students from 5th to 9th grade, from the municipality of Viseu. The method of survey by questionnaire was adopted yielding 852 responses. In general, the respondents have some information about healthy eating. The majority identifies the current food wheel and it is through school and books that they get the knowledge. However, it is observed that those who have some knowledge represent only a third of the students, which demonstrates that there is still pedagogical work to be done regarding the food education of young people.
