International Identifiers in Authoritative Files of the V. І. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine of as Means of Internationalization of Science
Abstract
The urgency of the topic is due to the need to adapt the modern library industry to the conditions of digital culture, namely: the formation of an unlimited amount of integrated information resources and providing access toopen information. The purpose of the study is to characterize the process of approximation of authoritative controlto modern information methodology in the web environment through the use of international identifiers ISNI, VIAF, WorldCat, Wikidata in the structure of authoritative records (AR) created in V. I. Vernadskyі National Library of Ukraine. Novelty. The article considers the need to expand the information component of traditional authoritative work, in connection with the requirements for the development of modern computer technology, namely: related opendata. Authoritative files created in the V. I. Vernadskyі National Library of Ukraine are supplemented by reference information, as well as links to international systems for identifying the names of persons / organizations, which form the basis of modern infrastructure of information scientific communications. Practical meaning. The use of international identifiers provides an opportunity to form unified access points in the electronic catalog of the V. I. Vernadskyі National Library of Ukraine and other national and international information arrays. Conclusions. This method of expanding the information structure of authoritative control increases the productivity of search in national electronic catalogs and in the web environment, as well as implements the principle of internationalization of science.
