This work describes the French crown military efforts (through two naval campaigns in 1710 and 1711) to obtain control of Brazil - the biggest Portuguese colony 300 years ago. This paper also tells of the influence of Rio de Janeiro’s peculiar geography, regarded both in French plans of taking over and in Portuguese defense resources.
