ESTABLISHING THE MOTIVATION LEVELS OF STUDENTS TAKING INSTRUMENTAL CLASSES IN AMATEUR MUSIC EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AFFILIATED WITH MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
Abstract
This research aims to establish the motivation levels of students taking instrument classes in amateur music education institutions that are affiliated with the Ministry of Education (MEB) according to the variants of gender, age, and the instrument type that is being taught. This is a descriptive work in the scanning model. 189 students taking instrument classes in 3 amateur music education establishments affiliated with the Ministry of Education in the Meram and Selçuklu districts of Konya make up the sample group of the research. The data are collected by the "Motivation Scale Towards Amateur Instrument Education" method, developed by Gençel Ataman and Güler (2020). In the analysis of the data, percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, Mann Whitney -U, and Kruskal Wallis-H are used. According to the data analysis results, it has been concluded that the general motivation of the students is a good grade. Statistically, the motivation levels do not show a significant difference according to gender and age but show a significant difference by the instrument type being taught.
