The specter speaks: About the concept of humanism in Karl Marx
Abstract
Karl Marx did not only realize, as Engels put it, that Hegel was "standing on his head," the economic and philosophic manuscripts introduced a concept of humanism with which he opposed Hegel's "false positivism." In the following, I outline the ways in which this spirit of a new humanism is articulated through the specter Marx invokes in the communist manifesto.
