In recent years, we are increasingly exposed to information about the activities of the young people who are part of Generation Z, as well as the role they play in society. Considering that young people are familiar and contemporary with technology, the article follows the impact of the digital self on Generation Z, the generation born between the mid-1990s and the early 2010s who have grown up in a world where digital technologies are ubiquitous. As a theoretical approach, this research examines how the use of digital technologies has shaped the identity and digital self of Generation Z. It explores how Social-Media have influenced their social relationships, self-image, and emotional well-being. Additionally, this article explores the potential consequences of a digital self, such as increased anxiety, social comparison, and addiction. The findings suggest that the digital self has become an integral aspect of identity formation for Generation Z and that understanding its impact is crucial for individuals, educators, and mental health professionals alike.
