Igino Benvenuto Supino's role in knowledge, protection and enhancement of Italian artistic heritage
Abstract
Igino Benvenuto Supino belongs to the small group of art historians and scientists which realized, in the end of XIX century, that the photography (understood as workshop, opportunity to a personal examination) might be able to help the knowledge about artistic heritage and contribute to the growth of Art History, a newbirth subject, and involvement related in research, educational and renovation. Supino made full use of new technique for impression of images both photographing in person and directing of Bargello, and making numerous publications, and using it as visual aid during the teaching of Art History in University of Bologna in 1907.
