The article deals with the different theories that explain memory distortions, intentional or not, especially in children. The different types of questions that make it possible to obtain information and the particularities of the interviewers to facilitate this recovery or influence the answers are analyzed. The approach is a systematic review of scientific articles and bibliography of authors referring to the subject. Articles that included empirical and theoretical studies relevant to the specific object of study were taken into account. It is concluded that it is still necessary to investigate more deeply about how the inoculation of memories or the memory errors of the subjects are produced. So far, it has been identified that the distortions can be internal or promoted by the external environment. The optimization of interviewing and intervention techniques can minimize the impact of errors -intentional or not- on memory.
