Temps longs et temps courts dans les parcours de jeunes adultes en situation de précarité
Abstract
The decline of a homogenous social time in industrial societies opens up the way to a pluralization of social temporalities. A process recognizable in young adults’ life courses regarding the density of transitions encountered during their process to adulthood. Those in precariousness are particularly affected by this temporal fragmented social world which complicates the social forces at work on their life courses, notably in case of an unexpected transition. This article suggests a conceptual framework articulating long and short times illustrated with empirical examples. Results show that young adults rewrite their past as well as their future in their turning points.
