Landscape units the Botanic Garden of São Paulo

Among the gardens created by man, the botanic garden can be considered one of the most important, since it showing many functions: scientific, educational, social, aesthetical, historical and ecological. The contemporary Botanic Garden of São Paulo was officially establishied in 1938 and showing ali the functions mentioned above, it can also be considered an historical one because the Ipiranga brook nascent is found there. The objectives were to rescue the history of the landscape design, evaluate the processes of intervention that occurred during its history and define and evaluate the landscape units. Five landscape units were proposed for the Botanic Garden, established by différent criteria of landscape, history and function. Graphie designs, photographs and bibliographie references were used, within the landscape geographical approach
