RIESGO, ESPERANZA Y RESPONSABILIDAD: UNA APROXIMACIÓN AL TIEMPO POR VENIR / RISK, HOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY: AN APPROXIMATION TO THE TIME TO COME
Abstract
Risk Society, by Beck, provided various tools that warned about the “bleak picture” that was looming. Today the future predicted by Beck is our own present. However, far from it closing the notions of the future for the sake of some hopeless melancholy, it returns to the table the dispute over the future time. The purpose of this article is to analyze some conceptual elements that allow us to relocate the coordinates of the future within social research. I will propose an itinerary that has its roots in The Imperative of Responsibility by Jonas, in discussion with Bloch’s work (The Principle of Hope). In a second moment, the hope-risk-responsibility triad is capable of posing the problem of the time to come from a perspective that no longer assumes "the risk that comes", but the risk that configures and enables various modes of social existence and against which, the task of rethinking around the social and cultural political disputes about it appears as an urgent task.
