The purpose of the article is to establish the peculiarities of the implementation of the principles of good governance in Ukraine and their impact on the development of democracy in the country. It was established that in foreign sources, the concept of good governance is defined as an institutional environment where citizens interact with government structures and employees; as effective, transparent and responsible government management of public affairs, including the involvement of representatives of civil society in achieving common goals of social, economic and cultural development. It was determined that an important component of effective governance is the observance of democratic principles, which includes active public participation and transparency in state activities. This will contribute to the stable economic and social development of Ukraine. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to involve all interested parties at the state and local levels, focusing on the principles of good governance. It has been proven that in the current conditions and in the future, the problems of social consolidation, tolerance, achieving consensus and trust between social, national and religious groups will become the main issues. The problem of trust in power, economic and legal institutions will also remain high. The Ukrainian government will be forced to make unpopular decisions in difficult conditions that will depend on the socio-economic situation and the demands of society. This requires the mechanisms of deliberative democracy, which will promote inclusiveness, reasoned discussions and conflict resolution. It is proven that two directions can be considered to strengthen democracy in Ukraine and strengthen good governance: improvement of existing mechanisms of public discussions by adding elements of deliberation, as well as research, adaptation and implementation of new mechanisms. Special attention should be paid to systematic dialogues with institutions of civil society, which can be useful in solving complex social problems.
