Effects of Exogenous Abscisic Acid (ABA) on Growth and Selenium Uptake in Grape Seedlings

In order to improve tolerance and selenium (Se) uptake in grape seedlings, we conducted a pot experiment to investigate the effects of spraying grape seedlings with four concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) on their physiological and Se accumulation characteristics. The outcomes of this experiment indicate that exogenous ABA could increase the biomass of grape seedlings by promoting their photosynthetic pigments content and antioxidant enzymes activity and reducing their malondialdehyde content. Furthermore, the translocation factor, bioconcentration factor, and Se concentration of grape seedlings were significantly enhanced by exogenous ABA, and exhibited an upward trend as the concentration of exogenous ABA increased. In conclusion, spraying ABA can promote the growth and Se accumulation in grape seedlings, and the better effect was found when the concentration of exogenous ABA was 10 μmol·L- 1and 20 μmol·L-1.
