Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata mimicking peritoneal carcinomatosis
Abstract
Disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis is a benign and very rare disease usually affecting premenopausal women. We present a 39 year old lady with intramural leiomyoma and disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis. The definitive treatment of disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis is surgical, depending on the degree of the disease. Before deciding on aggressive treatment, it should be kept in mind that peritoneal fibroids can mimic malignant peritoneal tumors.
