Social habitat and masculinity in the poetry of Oscar Cruz
Abstract
In the Cuban literary scene that emerges towards the beginning of XXI century, poetry offers one of the most renovating aesthetic expressions. In this context appears a group of authors, called by critics as “Generación Años Cero”, in which a radical discourse is appreciated in relation to the present history. This article proposes the analysis of the work of Oscar Cruz, a prominent poet of this group. Special emphasis is placed on the genealogy of the lyrical subject, addressing the social habitat in which it is registered and the profiles that define its masculinity. This also allows an assessment of the way in which Oscar Cruz reacts from his work to the social plot of his time.
