Avec la Pietà de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Performance et réception d’une œuvre intermédiale

Abstract

This paper studies the Pietà de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon altarpiece (v. 1455). It aims at describing the intermediality whithin its dispostif through which the devotional response of the faithful is activated. Some of the copies and related works linked to the Pietà serve an external analysis allowing us to better comprehend the transformations they bring to the initial dispositif.
