Abstract
Objectives: To analyze the nose measurements using conventional methods in 361 patients who were chosen incidentally in our policlinic. Methods: Nose measurements of the patients who admitted the policlinic in Ankara Numune Hospital between September 2003 and May 2005 were evaluated using conventional anthropologically methods. Results: Ages of the patients were between 15 and 85 years, mean 55 (± 17) years old. Of these patients, 180 were female, 181 were male. Mean nose width were 3.4 ± 0.2 cm (female) and 3.7 ± 0.3 cm (male), mean nose length were 5.3 ± 0.3 cm (female) and 5.8 ± 0.4 cm (male), mean nose height were 1.9 ± 0.9 cm (female) and 2.0 ± 0.2 cm (male), mean alar-pronasale distance were 3.2 ± 0.2 cm (female) and 3.6 ± 0.2 cm (male), and mean alar-subnasale distance were 2.1 ± 0.2 cm (female) and 2.3 ± 0.2 cm (male). Conclusion: In our study we evaluate the anthropological nose structure and measurements in Turkish population. We evaluated nose measurements bigger in male population and with age nose measurements getting smaller.
