This article argues that the idea of mutual recognition in the Phenomenology of Spirit (1807) can be interpreted in the light of the language of confession –geständnis– and forgiveness. This interpretative key allows to develop the following thesis: unlike what it could «ordinarily» be thought, that Hegel reaches a conclusive idea for thinking about the relationship of the self with the other by means of the figure of the master and the slave, we argue that for the philosopher, this relationship is made through the language of confession and forgiveness; as well as an Anerkennun idea could be possible without being reduced to servitude and domination only. This ensures that it is through this language that the self and the other constitutes a dialectical movement in which the possibility of the rupture and the encounter could be reached.
