Developing Trends of Railway Traffic Control

Abstract

The future of a railway operator is depending on the success of simultaneous improvement of service quality and cost effectiveness. In this paper we are going to investigate, how traffic control systems - by their developing trends - can contribute to the improvement of service quality and cost effectiveness. In course of this, the following topics will be highlighted: effect of the application of automation and telematics; issues of interoperability and the application of satellite based location.
