Tesauro funcional para organização de arquivos administrativos

Abstract

This paper presents functional thesaurus as a proposal for organization of administrative records. It describes archival information treatment and existing tools for indexing and retrieving information in archives. It characterizes the functional thesaurus, its origin and gives examples of use. In fact, functional thesaurus is better suited to the treatment of archival information by working with functions rather than with thematic concepts. Archival information is, in turn, critical for promoting access to issues relating to citizens' rights and to the country's development. In this context, proposals for the organization of information and documents, based on institutional functions and activities, should be evaluated.
