Generating molecular entities as structured data
Abstract
Websites are commonly used to share cheminformatics data. They enable chemists, pharmacists, life scientists, and other researchers to search, organize and access data relevant to their concerns. As data on the Web continues to increase, scientists have a growing problem finding suitable chemical data. Search engines can solve the problem and help find relevant webpages. However, the short summaries they provide in the results often contain little information on the importance of how relevant data is with respect to research interests. In this paper, we present an effective solution based on the Bioschemas project for that inconveniences. We introduce three open-source tools for generating cheminformatics structured data on the Web. After publication of such data, search engines will be able to process it better than data on traditional websites.
