Croisement sémiotique du signe linguistique et architectural : des formes aux dimensions langagières
Abstract
L'objectif de cette étude est d'explorer le langage utilisé dans l'architecture en analysant la signification des éléments assemblés dans une structure. Contrairement au langage verbal, le langage architectural n'est pas arbitraire, mais répond dès les débuts de l'architecture primitive à des besoins sociaux. La lisibilité des éléments visibles des lieux, ainsi que l'utilisation des formes et des matériaux, contribuent à leur identification. Comme le souligne A. Lévy (2005, p. 28), "la forme urbaine et son analyse dépendent toujours d'un point de vue initial, d'une perspective sur la forme, et d'une définition préliminaire qui en délimite les contours et l'approche, à vérifier ensuite sur le terrain". Le recours à la sémiotique architecturale pour assimiler et éclairer les aspects symboliques de l’édifice tout en les inscrivant dans un contexte communicatif particulièrement langagier conçu par le concepteur, dans cette perspective, le choix de l'architecte Oscar Niemeyer revêt une pertinence fondamentale pour étayer la thèse soutenant que l'édifice architectural représente une manifestation du langage. Abstract The aim of this study is to explore the language used in architecture by analyzing the meaning of the assembled elements in a structure. Unlike verbal language, architectural language is not arbitrary, but from the beginnings of primitive architecture, it responds to social needs. The readability of the visible elements of places, as well as the use of forms and materials, contribute to their identification. As A. Lévy (2005, p. 28) points out, "the urban form and its analysis always depend on an initial viewpoint, a perspective on the form, and a preliminary definition that delineates its outlines and approach, to be verified afterwards on the ground." The use of architectural semiotics to assimilate and shed light on the symbolic aspects of the building while inscribing them in a particularly language-based communicative context designed by the designer, in this perspective, the choice of the architect Oscar Niemeyer is of fundamental relevance to support the thesis that the architectural edifice represents a manifestation of language.
