Analysis of the production of mixed method studies in the evaluation of mental health services

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the mixed method research designs produced on the evaluation of mental health services. Method: A document analysis study, conducted from April to June 2019, which analyzed the research designs of mixed methods of evaluation of mental health services, carried out between 2006 and 2016 by a nursing research group. Results: Three mix-method studies of evaluation of mental health services from the southern region of Brazil are presented, all developed from a similar integration dynamics. The integration steps, objectives, methodology and analytical axes are presented. Conclusions: Conducting mixed method studies has enabled the identification of integration and convergence points between quantitative and qualitative approaches. The potential of the methodology for evaluative studies is emphasized.
