LUTTUOSO BY VLADIMIR CIOLAC: NEOROMANTICAL CONCEPTION OF FUNERAL MUSIC

Abstract

This article is dedicated to the chamber-instrumental miniature by V. Ciolac realized in the genre of funeral music. It was created after the death of the prominent Moldovan musician E. Bogdanovschi and it is dedicated to his memory. The author analyzes the imaginative conception of this miniature for string orchestra, in relation to the symbolism of the „tragic- style markers” of the past (from Baroque to Romanticism), presented in the context of modern language and free-form, and then draws a conclusion about the neo-romantic nature of this piece.
