Analysis of the state of green spaces in small cities of the Ural Federal District using the urban environment quality index

Abstract

According to the methodology approved by the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation for the formation of the Urban Environment Quality Index, the assessment of the inner city spaces includes should include an assessment of the quality of green spaces. In this review, we use annual quality indices for small towns of the Ural Federal District published since 2018 on the website of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. A comparison of the Indexes for 2018 and 2021 in eighty small towns shows their overall positive dynamics over this period. Using the same methodology, the green spaces of these small towns have also been assessed as one of the six indicators of urban environment quality with different results: positive, zero and negative.
