For equal rights between men and women at work, a long struggle has been and continues to be fought in France, as well as in Morocco. Multidimensional, it mobilized the actors of employment, as well as a myriad of associative actors, activists, politicians, academics... From this long struggle and this ongoing mobilization, resulted a set of legislative texts and public policies promoting the rights of women and fighting the existing inequalities between them and men. But has this legislative consecration been sufficient to go beyond the illusion of equality to its effectiveness in the labour market? This paper attempts, through the lens of gender and in a context of transnational comparison, to answer this question. We retrace the path of this struggle for workplace equality and this by analysing the evolution of the legislative framework in France and Morocco. We then discuss the current situation of labour market in both contexts.
