This paper focuses on the lexicological and semantic study of the Latin words expressing the notion of people: gens, natio, plebs, populus, proletarii, turba and vulgus in Calepino’s multilingual dictionary, within four reference editions representing different places of printing all along the period of the xvith-xviiith centuries: Lyon, 1578 (seven languages); Basel, 1584 (eight languages); Paris, 1606 (eight languages); Padua, 1752 (seven languages).
