Morphotectonic Schematization for the Sector of Guamá, Santiago de Cuba

Abstract

The relief was classified and the active nature of the faults located in the sector of Guamá was evaluated. The application of morphotectonic methods generated a 1:25 000 morphotectonic scheme. It includes the characterization of morphotectonic blocks and potential phenomena induced by moderate to intense seismic activities, which were not previously considered. It was concluded that there are geological, geomorphological and seismological conditions favoring the occurrence of phenomena induced by seismic activities in the sector of Guamá.
