The article is devoted to the methodological problems of teaching Russian as a foreign language. It discusses the peculiarities of the constructed multifunctional educational text and outlines the advantages of its use in the definite learning process at the university. The teaching method «text - table - text» has vivid opportunities in the development of the language skills and speaking competence. This method is analyzed from the point of view of informational, communicative and student-centered approaches used in teaching Russian as a foreign language. Pre-text and after-text tables are used to develop language skills. The process of making a table is described. The completed table becomes a means of control and self-management of reading as well as a reference plan (outline) for written or oral text production, i.e. for specific forms of the pre-textual and post-textual research. The table is usually made on the basis of the training text, constructed in accordance with the tasks, but it prepares for comprehension of the original Russian text in any of the sophisticated writing styles (scientific, official, journalistic, literary). This is particularly useful for the undergraduate students who acquire the skills of reading and comprehension of scientific works and write their Bachelor and Master dissertations in the scientific style. The ability to work with a table motivates foreign students to work with the text in a foreign language as it requires creative approach, sampling, establishment of specific relations of text elements, identifying patterns and implementing them using new examples. It seems relevant at any stage and for any form of learning Russian as a foreign language.
