Learning strategies are the procedures used to make learning processes more effective. The guidelines of the actions to follow are considered, essential in the learning process. This article presents the results obtained from the systematization of the historical development of learning strategies according to the different approaches and current challenges to achieve autonomous, independent and self-regulated learning, and thus improve motivation, orientation, cognitive self-efficacy. A comparative study was carried out of how students perform teaching activities before and after stimulation to the use of learning strategies.
