Abstract

يعد غرب البنغال من أهم أقاليم الهند الشرقية التي تفردت بسماتها الخاصة في فن التصوير، فهذا الإقليم ذو الأغلبية المسلمة، انتشر به منذ قرون بعيدة فن تصوير شعبي عُرف باسم باتا البنغال، تميز باحتفاظه بالتقاليد الفنية المتوارثة وبعض التأثيرات الفنية من المدارس المعاصرة له كالمدرسة المغولية الهندية والأسلوب المبكر لمدرسة راجستان، وقد لاقى شعبية عند جميع فئات الشعب، حيث تميز بجانب كونه فنًا بصريًا بأنه مصحوب بأغان تروي القصة المصورة، فأصبح المشاهد يستمتع بفن التصوير والغناء في الوقت نفسه، وقد عُرف هذا النوع من اللوحات باسم جارانو باتا أو لفائف الباتا .
