THE SENSES OF PRESERVATION: THE ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS OF THE COMARCA DE BRAGANÇA-PA, MEMORY, HISTORY AND CITIZENSHIP

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the preservationist actions currently implemented by the Court of Justice of the State of Pará, together with the permanent archive of the Comarca de Bragança-PA. This has an exploratory character, characterized as a case study. The data were gathered through bibliographic and documentary research, and analyzed based on the specialized literature, which provided subsidies for thinking about concepts such as "preservation", "memory" and "archives". The text highlights the need toreflect on the values, speeches and interests, which guide the process of preserving permanent archival collections. As well as, it emphasizes the importance of always considering the uses and appropriations that society can make of these cultural assets in the exercise of its citizenship.
