FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING AS A MEDIATED PROCESS
Abstract
This article reviews the research on foreign language learning as a process, mediated by the students' native tongue. The research deals with new areas not previously studied as it is concerned with the role ofprivate speech in foreign language acquisition. The new area of interest deals with the processes through which foreign language mediates the formation of new identities among learners of the target language.
