Predation of the water snake Helicops infrataeniatus (Serpentes, Colubridae) by the Whistling Heron Syrigma sibilatrix (Aves, Ardeidae) in southern Brazil

Abstract

In this work, we describe the predation of the water snake (Helicops infrataeniatus) by the Whistling Heron (Syrigma sibilatrix) in a wetland of Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil. This particular item of the Whistling Heron diet had not been reported previously in the scientific literature.
