Evaluation of Contemporary Persian Translations of the Holy Quran (The Case of the word ‘‘Hashr’’)

Abstract

Transmission of science and knowledge from one language to another ispossiblefrom translation. Butthis transition processhas weaknessesdespite theadvantages.Attentionandsensitivityon thismatter or subject is very important in the Holy Quran,becauseitemanates from premier source of matter. One of these weaknesses is seen in semantics and equivalent finding for the word ‘‘Hashr’’ and its derivatives. This articlereviewsandanalysisequivalentofthe mentioned word comprehensively and completely by the analytical method and there is a result that realequivalentofthisword, ‘‘collecting andpushing towards Doomsday’’accompanied with compulsion adverb. Butthiscomprehensive mean has not been met in contemporaryPersian translations such as Ayati, Elahi Ghomshei, Rezaei, Saffarzadeh, Fooladvand, Kavianpoor, Mojtabvi, Meshkini, Mesbahzadeh, Moezzi and Makarem Shirazi, andonlyElahi Ghosheihas noted to it in one case and it is incomplete.
