Abstract

The study of bones of equids found during archaeological excavations is an essential source of knowledge of their history and their role in economic and ritual activities in ancient societies. Osteological remains allow to address issues related to varietal diversity since the domestication of this species. This contribution aims to emphasize the role of equid bones as heritage ecofacts and to highlight the necessity to protect them from destruction.
