Abstract
Symposium 4: Biology and technology in the treatment of diabetes Insuline pumps in artificial páncreas systems By year 2021, insuline discover will reach a centenary. It was the first medication specifically for diabetes treatment and nowadays it is still the safest and most powerful of hypoglycemics. Despite its effectiveness, insuline's greatest challenge has been the occurrence of hypoglycemia, which has resulted in sub-optimal dosing in the prescriptions of nearly every patient. Most popular devices for insuline administration are syringes, pens and insuline pumps.
