An AIDS model has been applied to examine the effects of income and price changes on Vietnamese household food demand or expenditure. The data are drawn from Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) 2010 data set. The results indicate that the elasticities estimated from the model with Laspeyres’ index are more suitable than those from the model with Stone’s index. Most of the food items are normal and substitute goods, and elastic to their own prices. The bugdet share of meat, fish, milk-biscuits and drinks increase with their prices. The findings also show that the higher income group is more strongly affected than the lower income group as price changes.
