Utopia e distopia

Abstract

The essay focuses on an apparent paradox: the kingdom of Cronus is seen simultaneously as the golden age, but also the era of barbarism. How come this coincidentia oppositorum of utopia and dystopia? This coincidence can be explained by the function of myth which is to help define the human dimension.
