Male breast cancer: a case study
Abstract
Objective: conduct a case study of a male breast cancer survivor. Methods: qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, of the case study type of a male breast cancer survivor, followed at the Oswaldo Cruz University Hospital. The process of data collection and analysis was carried out in the year 2019, by means of a semi-structured questionnaire. Results: L.R., 72 years old, brown, incomplete elementary school education, smoker and carrier of hypertension. Diagnosed with an Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in the left breast, he underwent modified Radical Mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and drug therapy. Conclusion: this study made it possible to list the main characteristics of the disease and the context in which men face cancer, favoring the subjectivity of the subject.
