The present literature review conceptualizes the practice of PBL in the music classroom in primary education, secondary education and university (teachers’ education). In order to do that, we analyze articles in two databases: Dialnet and the database of the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC). After two selection procedures, we identify sixty-six articles describing projects in these three levels of education. The most challenging projects in music education try to achieve four goals: generating a research process, developing music practice, working across multiple disciplines and making a public presentation of the product.
