Alternative fuels for motor vehicles: Fashion or necessity?

Abstract

The increased levels of requirements related to environmental protection and energy resources conservation point out to alternative fuels for internal combustion engines. Amongst several alternatives, the natural gas in. coming years has the largest chances. This fuel has satisfactory ecological properties, the resources are very large and prices acceptable. That's why there are more and more vehicles converted to natural gas and it is estimated that future there will be more millions of compressed natural gas vehicles. The first initiatives in this direction are done in this country as well. It makes a basis to undertake analysis of application of alternative fuels and natural gas in particularly for the Yugoslav army, as it is proper seed in this article.
