Aproximación a La Margarita preciosa, comedia hagiográfica de Zabaleta, Cáncer y Velasco y Calderón de la Barca

Abstract

In this paper we propose a first approach to La Margarita preciosa, a play dedicated to the life of St. Margaret of Antioch, written in collaboration by Calderón de la Barca, Jerónimo de Cáncer y Velasco and Juan de Zabaleta. Specifically, we will focus on the relationship with the hagiographic hypotexts, in the mechanisms of dramatic reworking and finally in the affinities and differences between La Margarita preciosa and the Calderonian comedian de santos of single authorship.
