Adieu à la dictature militaire ?

Abstract

This article discusses the relevance of the concept of the « civilian-military dictatorship » that has appeared in recent years to replace « military dictatorship » in characterizing the Brazilian regime that was in power from 1964 to 1985. In this regard, the article attempts to historicize the new concept and then discusses it from various angles in order to show that the new characterization is unsatisfactory and has been imposed without any larger theoretical discussion.
