Epididymal cyst: An etiology of scrotal pain in children
Abstract
Epididymal cysts are fluid filled cysts arising from the epididymis, with an incidence ranging from 5 to 20% in pediatric age group. Being not so common, these lesions might be underestimated as an etiology of scrotal pain in children. We present a 13-year-old male child with history of right sided scrotal pain of 1 month duration. Clinical examination and scrotal ultrasonography established the diagnosis of epididymal cyst. Following 4 months of expectation, and upon persistence of patient's complaint and failure of lesion's resolution, surgical excision of the cyst was done.
