Treatment and Prevention of Vitamin D Insufficiency and Deficiency in Children and Adolescents

Abstract

The article describes the data on vitamin D metabolism. The causes and clinical picture of its deficiency, the role of the latter in the development of rickets, osteoporosis, some diseases of childhood are discussed. The guidelines on the treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency in the population of Central Europe countries relative to the recommended doses of vitamin D preparations are presented.
