Tatar historical necropolises: current state and prospects of research

Abstract

One of the activity areas of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Tatarstan at Sh. Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences is studying the Tatar historical necropolises. In 2015–2017, the staff of the department conducted a survey of the above-noted facilities in the Arsk and Atninsk municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as in Kazan. The results of this work, some observations and conclusions made during the expeditions, are presented in the article.
