The challenge of educability commands education on all costs. Nothing should justify the absence of education in human development. Every child must learn, and the teacher has no excuse. However, new pedagogies advocate for considering the child’s freedom in education. How to reconcile freedom and educability within a standardized educational framework ? The objective of this article is to analyze the challenge reconciling the bet on educability with freedom in education, that unfolds between autonomy and responsibility. It emerges from our reflection that in the Burkinabè context, educability is severely hampered by the principle of freedom and rights of the child decreed to educators. We proposed autonomy and responsibility as concepts likely to help overcome this difficulty.
