Antiparkinsonian effect of dicholine succinate on the model of MPTP-induced parkinsonism
Abstract
Antiparkinsonian effects of dicholine succinate (intranasalapplication of 0.25.0 mg/kg) was studied in the C57Bl/6 micemodel of parkinsonism caused by a single i.p. injection of25 mg/kg 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP). Dicholine succinate was found to be characterized bysignificant antiparkinsonian effects, as indicated by reduction ofakinesia in the open field test horizontal locomotor activity(0.2, 1.0 and 5.0 mg/kg) and reduction of muscle rigidityassessed through the step length (1.0 and 5.0 mg/kg). However, dicholine succinate did not exhibit any effect on such majorMPTP-induced parkinsonian symptoms as tremor, piloerection,latero- and retropulsion.
